Longtime teacher Brian Davidson accused of sexual contact with student at school

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. -- Douglasville Police say a longtime math teacher and coach at a High School is facing possible jail time after being arrested for having sexual contact with a student at school.

Brian Davidson, 55, was arrested on two counts of custodial sexual assault on October 5th. 

According to the police report, The incident occured in Mid-August in Douglas County High School. Davidson is accused of having inappropriate contact with a 17-year-old student on two occasions. The report did not specify if it was the same female involved in both incidents. 

The school’s website, which still featured Davidson’s photo as of Tuesday, lists him as a math teacher and a coach of both the girls and boys golf team.

Davidson, who has worked at the school for 24 years, has been released on bond.

Douglas County Schools spokesperson Karen Stroud issued a statement saying:

A Douglas County teacher tued himself in to the City of Douglasville Police Department in early October following an allegation of inappropriate conduct made by a student.

It is our understanding this matter is still under investigation by the police and attoeys. The teacher is on administrative leave and has not been in the classroom since the school system was informed of the charges.

Douglasville police referred requests for comment to the district attoey, who have not yet commented.
