High-school football ban proposed by Paul Butler, N.H. doctor
High-school football's days might be numbered if Paul Butler, a retired doctor from Dover, N.H., gets his way. He's proposed a ban on the American institution because of the potential dangers it poses to the skulls of its young players.
Butler, himself a former high-school footballer, believes "we have a moral imperative to at least begin the process of ending this game," which he says "uses the head as a battering ram." Unsurprisingly, his idea has raised the hackles of the Dover High School board and the local newspaper, but Butler believes that if officials don't end high-school football, "lawyers will do it for us."
