CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says a teacher was arrested on Monday after he admitted to striking a student. Richard Grossman, a teacher at Heritage Academy, is charged with misdemeanor battery.

Police say that eight to 12 students witnessed Grossman backhand 14-year-old Kane Zipperman.

Zipperman’s mother, Holly Hudson, who is also a teacher at Heritage Academy, spoke to FOX 5 about the alleged incident on Tuesday.

According to the incident report, Heritage Academy suspended Grossman following the incident.

Hudson said she has withdrawn her son from the school, and she said now her conce is that Grossman has retued to work as a teacher.
