Henry County woman Jennifer Rosenbaum accused of killing 2-year-old granted bond
Jennifer Rosenbaum, 27, and her husband, 26-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum, were arrested in connection with the death of their 2-year-old foster child, Laila Marie Daniel. Police said Mrs. Rosenbaum struck the child in the abdomen with such force that she suffered inteal injuries, contributing to her death.
Jennifer Rosenbaum, a county commissioner candidate, was charged with murder, aggravated assault and first and second degree child cruelty. Her husband was charged with child cruelty.
On November 17, Jennifer Rosenbaum's birthday, the foster mother called 911 to report her child was choking on some chicken. She attempted to do the Heimlich maneuver and CPR, according to the 911 recording obtained.
A transcript of parts of the 13-minute recording is as follows:
Caller: "I have a toddler-- a foster daughter-- She's choking and I tried to do the Heimlich on her..."
Operator: "She is breathing now?"
Caller: "She is breathing. I'm trying to do CPR. I'm hoping I didn't break a rib. I've been pushing hard. I don't know how to do this..."
Rosenbaum said the child eventually stopped breathing. The child was rushed to Piedmont Henry Hospital and declared dead in the emergency room.
