Gwinnett Teen Garfield Lawson Accused in Hit-and-Run to Face Adult Charges
Garfield Lawson

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A Gwinnett County teen accused in the hit-and-run death of a 9-year-old girl back in April will now face adult charges.

Detectives arrested 17-year-old Garfield Lawson shortly after it happened. He's facing first-degree vehicular homicide, hit and run, falsely reporting a crime and tampering with evidence.

Police say Lawson hit 9-year old Gracelle Sanders off Club Drive, then fled. They say he dropped off friends, before driving to a gas station and wiping down the front of his car.

Officers say Lawson then called police to say he was the victim of a hit-and-run.

Lawson was moved from the Gwinnett Youth Detention Center in Lawrenceville, over to the jail.
