Eleven years after the murder of 18-year old Elaine Nix, Gwinnett County police are still searching for her killer.

It's a cold case. It's been 11 years yet there aren't many leads. Police still don't have a motive nor any suspects. But Becky and David Nix say they will fight to find their daughter's killer and are convinced the answers to their questions lie in the public's help.

Most mothers get to see their daughters graduate from high school, college, get married, and then eventually have children. Becky Nix will never know what that's like.

"She was always smiling and trying to make the best of the day. She was a happy person," said Becky Nix.

The only thing the Nix's know about the last days of their only daughter's life was that she left their Gainesville home one night 11 years ago to use a pay phone. She talked with her boyfriend for an hour, then vanished. Her body was found eight days later -17 miles away in a Gwinnett County ditch. To this day, they don't know what, how or why the murder happened.

"Your mind just goes off and you just think about so many different scenarios that it could be. You know’there's no peace," said the victim's mother Becky Nix.

The payphone where Elaine was last seen bears her picture and a notice of a reward of her unsolved murder.

"It's gotta be a sick person. A person that needs to get a conscience," said the victim's father David Nix.

The Nix's say the indescribable pain doesn't dull their resolve to get to the truth. The case is now with the Gwinnett county cold case squad. Detectives say they frequently review and analyze the case. Becky and David nix say they haven't lost hope her killer will be found.

"We know somebody saw something. It's been 11 years and they're just not going to get away with it. One day we'll know," said Becky Nix.

This Saturday the Nix's are holding a run to raise money for the reward fund.

It will start at Zack Convenience Store on Candler Road in Gainesville at 11 a.m.

Gwinnett County police are encouraging anyone with information -- new or old -- to come forward.
