Gwinnett Father James Brooks Charged After Toddler Found Wandering Alone

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett County police charged the father of a little girl who was found wandering an apartment complex by herself.

Police said a neighbor at the Carrington Chase Apartment Complex on South Norcross-Tucker Road found the girl just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the girl, who is between 18 and 24 months old, was wandering around the complex and no one knew who she was.

After several hours, police located the child’s father, James Brooks, 27, and charged him with cruelty to children.

Police said the girl was released to the custody of her mother, who was at work at the time.

The girl is OK.
