GWINNETT COUNTY, GA  - Police say a 15-year-old teen choked his mother to death after a domestic dispute Tuesday afteoon in Gwinnett County.

The victim, Faith Haynes, 47, was found dead by her nephew around 5 p.m. at the Oakwood Vista Apartments in the 1300 block of Ardsley Place in Norcross.

Investigators believe the suspect Patrick Gibson choked his mother after an argument began over his refusal to take his medication. Gibson fled the apartment after the killing but was later found and arrested near the front of the apartment complex. He has been charged as an adult and he's facing one count of felony murder and aggravated assault, police said.

Police say mental illness may have played a role in the killing.

He is currently lodged at a detention center in Rockdale.
