Griffen Kramer: Son of ex-Falcons quarterback dies of heroin overdose

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles coroner's office says a heroin overdose caused the death of the 18-year-old son of former NFL and Falcons quarterback Erik Kramer.

Thousand Oaks High School backup quarterback c was found dead in his Agoura Hills home on Oct. 30.

The Ventura County Star says a toxicological report shows the teenager died of acute morphine heroin toxicity.

Friends told investigators that Kramer began foaming at the mouth while consuming heroin with them. Authorities say one of his friends took him home and laid him down so he could sleep it off. The teen was found dead the next moing.

Five have been arrested in connection with Kramer's death.

Erik Kramer's NFL career spanned from 1987 to 1999. He played for Chicago, San Diego, Detroit and -- for one season, 1987 -- Atlanta.
