Gov.-elect Nathan Deal Names Doug McGinniti as Ga. Revenue Commissioner

ATLANTA - Gov.-elect Nathan Deal has named former Republican secretary of state candidate Doug McGinnitie as Georgia's new revenue commissioner.

McGinnitie replaces Bart Graham, whose clashes with Deal led to a congressional ethics probe of the then-congressman.

McGinnitie, co-founded of a commercial insurance brokerage firm and is a former city councilman in Sandy Springs.

Graham met three times with Deal in 2008 and 2009 over a state vehicle inspection program that funneled money to Deal's Gainesville auto salvage business. Graham was trying to privatize the program.

A congressional ethics probe found that Deal may have violated House rules. And Graham was served with a federal grand jury subpoena asking him to produce records related to his meetings with Deal.
