NORCROSS, Ga. - One girl was transported to the hospital Friday after a truck slammed into a wall at an apartment complex in Gwinnett County.

Gwinnett County police say at around 3 a.m. the driver of a pickup truck lost control and plowed into a wall of one of the units at the Tuscana Apartment complex off Jerry Way, located in south Gwinnett County off Interstate 85.

Four people were inside the apartment when the truck hit -- a man, a woman, a 5-year old girl and a 2-year old boy.

A construction company hired by the Tuscana Apartment complex took video Thursday moing from inside the room where the child was injured. Seen is the crushed crib where the child was sleeping. Also seen is what's called a valance -- a long piece of wood from the wall that shot across the room like a missile and pierced the wall into the living room.

It was devastating damage and potentially fatal.

Along with the impact, bricks and other debris showered the room where the girl was sleeping. She has been taken to Scottish Rite hospital in Atlanta.

The family’s upstairs neighbor was asleep directly above where the truck crashed through the wall.
Wilmer Costello the upstairs neighbor told Fox Five News that when the truck crashed through the wall it shook the building like an earthquake.

"I just grabbed my little girl and wife and we ran from the building," Costello said.

Gwinnett County police have arrested the woman driving the truck. They say she fled the scene and was located by the child’s father in the apartment complex.

Police say they expect to file DUI charges on her.

While looking at the damage to his neighbor's apartment Costello said, "It's really lucky that no one was killed."

The name of the driver of the truck has not been released.
