GDOT, State Patrol Close I-285 Ramps
ATLANTA - Georgia Department of Transportation work crews, along with assistance from units of the Georgia State Patrol, have closed entrance ramps to Interstate 285 south of Interstate 20 to clear ice and congestion.
GDOT officials say maintenance crews will lay salt, calcium chloride, gravel and liquid deicer on Interstate 285 EB and WB from Interstate 75 west toward Riverdale Road. While the crews are working in this area, all entrance ramps will be blocked by law enforcement; however motorists already on Interstate 285 or those wishing to exit Interstate 285 will be allowed to do so.
The crews and law enforcement will then begin working on Interstate 285 EB and WB; moving in an easte direction toward Interstate 675 in Clayton county and Interstate 20 in Dekalb County. The entrance ramps will be closed in phases as the convoy moves eastward, say GDOT officials.
The operation will continue until Interstate 285 is clear in both directions. The work started at 10 a.m.
