Fugitive Businessman Rufus Paul HarrisCaught In Utah
ATLANTA -- U.S. Marshals say they have caught a business executive who they say fled after a jury in Atlanta found him guilty of securities fraud.
Authorities say 43-year-old Rufus Paul Harris — originally from Adairsville, Ga. and most recently from Oklahoma City — fled on May 23.
U.S. Attoey Sally Quillian Yates said Harris was arrested Sunday after a five-day, nationwide manhunt in Provo, Utah.
Harris, founder of Kennesaw-based Conversion Solutions Corp., and former chief operating officer Benjamin Stanley of Kennesaw were convicted Thursday of securities fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy in connection with what prosecutors said was a scheme to defraud investors in the company.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 18. Harris may face additional charges of bail jumping.
