Former DeKalb County commissioner Stanley Watson indicted on theft charge
Former DeKalb County Commissioner Stanley K. Watson turned himself in to authorities at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on June 27, 2017 after being indicted by the DeKalb County District Attorney on one count of Theft by Conversion.

- A former DeKalb County commissioner indicted by the DeKalb County District Attorney on one count of Theft by Conversion turned himself in to authorities.

Stanley Watson, 63, is accused of misappropriating funds intended for business travel in January 2016 when he served as the District 7 Commissioner.

Prosecutors said Watson received a $3,000 advance for travel expenses, but he resigned before the trip and kept the money until paying it back a year later.

Watson was indicted on Tuesday June 27, 2017 and turned himself in at the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office following the indictment. 

Watson was booked into the DeKalb County Jail where he posted a $5,000 bond and was released pending trial.
