Fires along I-285 threaten homes, snarl traffic

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

Firefighters spent part of Sunday afteoon putting out a grass fire along Interstate 285 in DeKalb County.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 6 p.m. Sunday to a series of fires along Interstate 285 in between Panthersville and Bouldercrest roads.

Fire officials at the scene tell FOX 5 News that about a half-acre bued. They say they were worried about the fire because it came close to some houses that border the busy highway.

Westbound traffic on Interstate 285 was affected for about two hours as several lanes of traffic were closed to accommodate fire trucks and equipment.
