Film Shooting at CDC, Emory Stars Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet
ATLANTA - The CDC and Emory University will be backdrops in an upcoming film starring Matt Damon. Film crews were in Atlanta Thursday shooting the film "Contagion."
The filming in the DeKalb Emory area caused traffic problems for many motorists. Some drivers reported sitting in traffic anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, causing some to miss appointments. Films are not typically shot during the moing and afteoon traffic rush.
According to the site onlocationvacations.com , the film is about the breakout of a deadly disease and the attempt to stop it. Filming is to go one for a few days.
The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet. It is being directed by Steven Soderbergh. According to the website imdb.com , the movie is scheduled for an October 2011 release.
Tom Skinner of the CDC confirmed film crews were at the center. Skinner says he saw some Humvee's outside but that it was all part of the filming.
