CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — An arrest has been made in the case of a man found shot to death inside a Carroll County home.

The discovery was made at the home on White Oak Court on Monday, but Carroll County sheriff’s deputies said the victim had been dead for about 13 hours. They said a family member went to check on 40-year-old Michael Cain Barber and found the body. His wife and children were out of town at the time.

The next moing, authorities said Clyde Henry Puckett was arrested on felony murder charges. Family members identified him as Barber’s father-in-law, the same man who reported finding the body.

Neighbors said there have been rumors of domestic issues at the home before.  Other neighbors said they have seen sheriff's deputies at the home earlier this year.

One neighbor, who did not wish to be identified, told Elliot she and her husband heard a series of gunshots from the direction of the victim's house on Sunday afteoon.

"I heard four gunshots," she said.  "We didn't think anything of it.  We just figured it was somebody practicing their shots or whatever."

After she saw all the law enforcement activity around the home, she told investigators what she had heard.

"I got to remembering the gunshots we heard," she said.  "And I thought, I wonder if something happened, and that's the first thing that went through my mind."

Elliot observed investigators searching through a burgundy Ford Taurus parked in the driveway next door to the victim's home.  Hours later, a flatbed tow truck hauled it away.

"I'm not going to tell you what we think," said Robinson.  "But hopefully the guys inside working the case will be able to come up with some answers to the questions that we have.  I hope it won't be long."
