Falling Tree Kills 2 People in Jackson

JACKSON, Ga. - Authorities in Butts County say a father and his 4-year-old son were killed when storms caused a tree to fall on their home in Jackson early Tuesday moing. They say a limb from the tree sliced through the bedroom of the family’s duplex, hitting a bed where the father and his two boys were sleeping.

Alix Bonhomme, Jr., 28, and his 4-year-old son, Alix Bonhomme, III, were killed.

The boys’ mother, Marcie Moore, told FOX 5 she was sleeping when she heard what she thought was thunder outside. She says she then realized a tree had fallen on her home, and she ran to a neighbor’s house to get a flashlight.

Moore said she retued to her home and discovered her boyfriend and one of their sons were dead inside the bedroom. She said she grabbed the surviving boy and ran out of the house. Neither Moore nor her other son were hurt.

Moore told FOX 5 she and Bonhomme, Jr. were planning to marry soon.
