DORAL, Fla. — Atlanta Falcons linebacker James Pearce Jr. was arrested Saturday in South Florida after fleeing from police and crashing his vehicle following what authorities described as a domestic dispute, according to law enforcement and jail records.

Police were called to the Doral area near Miami Saturday afternoon on a report of a domestic incident involving a man and a woman, authorities said. Pearce, 23, left the scene before officers arrived and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed the Lamborghini he was driving, according to reports.

Pearce was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, and fleeing or eluding police with lights and siren. Additional counts include aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer and resisting without violence, records show.

A conditional stay-away order was issued prohibiting Pearce from contacting the other individual involved. The woman has been identified in other reports as WNBA player Rickea Jackson of the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Falcons issued a statement saying they were aware of the incident and gathering information, but declined further comment on an ongoing legal matter.

Bond had not been immediately set on all charges, and it was unclear what led to the initial dispute.
