Ex-state trooper Donald Crozier indicted in death of Braves trainer's wife
Officials with the Fulton County District Attoey's Office say a former state trooper accused of causing a deadly crash in the line of duty has been indicted by a Fulton County Grand Jury.
They say Trooper First Class Donald Crozier was indicted late Tuesday on charges of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, reckless driving and violation of oath by public officer in connection with the 2011 death of 54-year-old Kathy Porter, wife of Braves trainer Jeff Porter.
The accident happened at Memorial Drive and Capitol Avenue while Porter and his family were headed to the Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome. Kathy Porter died at the scene. Authorities say the cruiser, driven by Crozier, collided with the Porter's SUV. Crozier was responding to a call at the time.
An accident report shows Crozier drove through a red light on his way to help another trooper in a chase, and hit the Porters' car.
