Ex-Ga. mayor Lee Stuart pleads no contest in secret recording
The former mayor of a north Georgia city has pleaded no contest in Fulton County Superior Court to a misdemeanor charge of unprofessional conduct stemming from allegations that he secretly recorded private mediation sessions.
Officials in the Fulton County District Attoey's office say Lee Stuart and Stockbridge city officials were seeing a mediator to discuss a lawsuit. Authorities say Stuart hid a digital recorder in the room where a mediator was meeting with city officials for a private session. Officials say an unidentified person Stuart asked to download the recording instead reported the secret recording to authorities.
Stuart is ordered to spend a year on probation, pay a $1,000 fine and $5,000 restitution to Fulton County.
Stockbridge is about 20 miles southeast of Atlanta in Henry County.
