Victor Hill released on bond

Channel 2 Action News reporter Mark Winne confirmed with Clayton County Sheriff Kem Kimbrough Friday moing that a Clayton County bail bond firm was in the processes of posting bond for Hill. He was released from the Gwinnett County Jail around 3 p.m.

Hill was arrested on Wednesday following his grand jury indictment on 37 counts, including theft by taking, making false statements and violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

The grand jury started an investigation into Hill in April, and prosecutors finished their presentation on Wednesday afteoon. Hill then had the option to make a final statement before the panel voted on the charges.

Sources told Winne the special grand jury looked at the use of county credit cards, the handling of campaign finances, if there was personal travel using county equipment and if county employees engaged in campaign or personal business for Hill.

Kimbrough has been critical of Hill, whom he beat in 2008.
