Elderly Savannah Man John Green Killed in Robbery Outside Store

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Authorities say an elderly man was shot and killed during a robbery outside his neighborhood market in Savannah.

Police say 78-year-old John Green had just left Chu's Market with his newly purchased bread Saturday moing about 9:45 a.m. when he was robbed and shot. Police say Green stumbled back into the market bleeding and collapsed.

Store workers called 911. Green was later pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital.

Police are searching for suspects in the killing and are asking any potential witnesses to come forward.

Green's death is the first homicide of the year for Savannah.
