East Point Police Shooting, Chase May be Tied to Henry Murder
EAST POINT, Ga. - East Point Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Wednesday afteoon.
Police say the scene was centered near Normanberry Drive at Normanberry Village before Calhoun Avenue. According to police officials, officers were assisting in a murder investigation in Henry County when the shooting happened.
FOX 5’s Doug Evans reports the shooting is related to the death of a MARTA bus driver who was found dead in his home. The view of the scene from SkyFox 5 showed a car that had crashed into an apartment building, and the car that was said to be the murder victim’s missing vehicle. Police say they received a tip Tuesday that the car was in East Point, and officers spotted it Wednesday.
Police say they pursued the car as it went into the parking lot at the apartment complex, and that led to the police-involved shooting. The car crashed and was left hanging over a cul-de-sac.
One person from the car was taken to the hospital while another was taken to jail. There was no word on the condition of the suspect who was taken to the hospital.
GBI is investigating the shooting.
