Duluth police names 6 suspects in deadly home invasion

Duluth police say they have six suspects in a deadly home invasion and murder. Five have been charged and three are now in custody.

Peirre Scott and four other men have been charged in connection with the home invasion and murder earlier in August. A sixth, police say, will likely be indicted later.  Adama Schrier, 37, was killed. His girlfriend, Jami Smith and 8-year-old daughter were wounded.

”These people came in with a robbery in mind conceing some illegal narcotics, said Duluth Police Major Don Woodruff.

Investigators won't talk specifics about the crime publicly, but arrest affidavits reveal authorities believe Devon Jenkins was the triggerman, shooting and killing Schrier, and then also wounding Schriers's girlfriend and child. Both females survived.

”There are indications of cartel connections, said Duluth police Capt. Mark Hunter.

District attoey Danny Porter says although Schrier was involved in drugs. He likely wasn't the intended target.

”We believe that they may have been looking for someone else that had been staying at the house previously. It still doesn’t change the motive, Porter said.

Along with Jenkins, authorities have charged Brian Brewner, Jonathan Pichardo, Scott and James Stokes with felony murder and armed robbery.  Scott and Pichardo are behind bars. The other three remain at large.

”It's going to take work to find them. I’m confident that they will be found. I’m hopeful they will be found quickly, said Hunter.

Authorities have not identified the sixth man publicly but say he is already in jail on unrelated charges.  The hunt for the alleged triggerman and two others continues.
