Drinking diet soda could kill you

Feeling good about yourself for trading sugary soda out for calorie-free diet soda? Not so fast there, bones.

A study published in the Joual of General Inteal Medicine found that subjects who drank diet soda every day increased their risk of stroke, heart attack, or other \"vascular events\" by an alarming 61 percent.

The long-term study of 2,564 New Yorkers found no increased risk among drinkers of regular soda or even of other \"lite\" soft drinks.

Diet-soda lovers everywhere are clinging to the study's qualification that no causal link has yet been determined, which would provide comfort that the only clearly associated diseases are just the ol' standbys, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Leave a skinny corpse, right?

Would health risks keep you from drinking diet soda?
