Dozens of guns stolen from Shots Fired gun store in Covington
Newton County Police are looking for four suspects they said broke into a local gun store and stole more than 30 firearms.
Investigators tell reporters the thieves made out with dozens of guns from Shots Fired gun store in Covington just before 3 a.m. Monday.
They said the crime took the suspects a total of about three minutes.
Surveillance photos show the men, all wearing hoodies, as they smashed through a cabinet and even held up guns.
Among the guns stolen were several AR-15s, according to police.
Washington talked to customers at the store who said they hope someone recognizes the thieves and calls police with information.
"It scares me. They can go shoot someone with them and they not even be registered. Especially those ar-15, 30 round magazine. I mean that's a lot of bullets," Donald Monroe said.
There is a reward being offered for anyone with information leading to the arrests.
"Just having these illegal guns out on the streets is dangerous to anyone, Detective Allan Seebaran said.
Meanwhile the owner is working to get things cleaned up, so he can reopen.
