SANDY SPRINGS, Ga - Strong winds early Monday caused some power lines to come down -- blocking part of a busy roadway in northwest Atlanta.

The whipping winds caused a tree to fall across some power lines, bringing them crashing down across New Northside Drive near Powers Ferry Road in Sandy Springs.

It happened shortly after 5 a.m.

Crews are working to repair the power lines and remove the tree from the road.

The road remains closed to traffic. Road crews hope to have the road open by the time the afteoon commute begins.
