Deputy Alicia Parkes gets probation in bathroom recording scandal
Alicia Parkes

A Clayton County deputy will spend three years on probation for making an audio recording of a colleague using the bathroom.

After pleading guilty to eavesdropping, 33-year-old Alicia Parkes was sentenced to three years of probation and a $300 fine. Prosecutors said she was on duty in September 2010 when she used a cellphone to record the Sheriff’s Office employee in a jailhouse bathroom. Parkes must also apologize to the victim.

She previously also faced a felony obstruction charge, but it has been dropped. Parkes was accused of trying to stop a police officer from arresting one of her relatives. She was a Clayton County police officer at the time.

Parkes’ attoey said her record will be wiped clean once she successfully completes probation.
