Cherokee County deputies say they’ve arrested a man who allegedly assaulted his wife and fired a rifle at her during a domestic dispute on Monday.

Investigators say Paul Taylor was arrested at his home on Lee Path in Acworth on Thursday. They say Taylor had fled into the woods after Monday’s alleged incident, and while deputies were searching for him, they heard a second shot in the woods behind the home. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was unable to locate him in the woods, they say.

Taylor was later found hiding in a bathroom. He is currently behind bars held without bond on aggravated assault and battery charges.

Two others were also arrested on Thursday with Taylor. His common-law wife, Tiffany Johnson, was charged with giving false statements and hindering the apprehension of a criminal. She remains in custody on $11,880.00 bond.

Carey Wilkins, 45, of Kennesaw was also arrested and charged with giving false statements and hindering the apprehension of a criminal. He also remains in custody on $11,880.00 bond.
