Delta Flight Bound For Atlanta From Europe Damages Wing
ATLANTA -- A Delta plane headed to Atlanta from Europe was damaged when it was forced to land in South Carolina because of severe weather in north Georgia.
Flight 115 was travelling from Barcelona, Spain to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Inteational Airport but was diverted to Greenville-Spartanburg airport just after 3 p.m.
A GA Daily News Twitter follower on the flight said the plane was forced to land because of low fuel and struck a light pole approaching the runway.
A Delta spokesman said the Airbus A330 aircraft sustained minor damage to its right wing but did not reveal the cause.
A Boeing 777 was sent to bring 269 of the 298 passengers back to Atlanta Tuesday evening, and the remaining passengers took other flights to their destination, a spokesman.
