DEKALB COUNTY, GA  - A DeKalb County father has been charged is charged with murder after police say he drowned his 10 year-old son, Kentae Williams.

Leon Williams Sr, 43, is facing first degree murder and cruelty to children charges in the April 28th incident.

Officers responded to a 911 call from a grandmother who reported her grandson had drowned. When officers arrived at the Serenade apartments located in the 300 block of Glen Hollow Drive, they found the victim dead.

According to Geri Williams, the victim's grandmother, she heard her grandson "yelling and throwing a fit because he didn't want to take a bath." She said the boys father checked on him periodically to see if he was alright.

A few minutes later, she said the house "got quiet." When they checked on the victim, they found him unresponsive. That's when the suspect began performing CPR and told the grandmother to call 9-1-1, saying Kentae may have had a seizure while taking a bath.

The grandmother also told police that the bath appeared hot and that she saw bu marks on her grandson's feet.

According to the police report, the suspect adopted the victim after he was in foster care.

A witness told police that she saw the suspect grab 10-year-old Kentae by the neck at a barbeque earlier in the day and say, "you're going to die tonight."

This is an ongoing investigation.
