DeKalb Co. commissioner's chief of staff Jeff Breedlove arrested for making false statements

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A County chief of staff was fired by the DeKalb commissioner on Monday after he was arrested for making false statement to police and admitting that he has a crack cocaine addiction.

Commissioner Nancy Jester fired her chief of staff, Jeff Breedlove, on Monday after he failed to show up for work and was booked in jail.

According to the police report, Breedlove met two other people at the Budget Inn and Suites hotel on Memorial Drive in DeKalb County on Monday. Police responded to that location after receiving information that someone had a gun in room 222.

Breedlove was in that room and told police he was a victim of false imprisonment. After further investigation, it tus out he wasn't, according to police.

Breedlove also allegedly told police he uses crack and has a crack habit that only his family knows about it. Plus, he also said he owed one of the other people in the room $200.

In addition, Breedlove told police he was a very important man and didn't want to get in trouble and asked police if they could make it go away.

Commissioner Jester responded with the following statement on Tuesday.

    ”I do not condone or tolerate lack of performance in an employee and I have taken swift and immediate action regarding this situation. I look forward to moving forward to continue to add value to the citizens of district one and all of DeKalb.

DeKalb County police told reporters that the other two people in the hotel room with Breedlove were not charged and no drugs were found at the scene of the incident.
