Death at International Paper in savannah: 58 year-old Ricky Salter killed
Authorities said a maintenance worker was killed Sunday afteoon at Inteational Paper in Savannah. Firefighters and emergency crews responded to an industrial accident at the plant around 2:30 p.m. Inteational Paper said Ricky Salter, 58, died in the paper roll handling area.
Salter was pronounced dead at the scene. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police and Inteational Paper are investigating.
The company released a statement that said, ”Ricky was a valued and respected member of our Savannah team and was an employee at our mill for more than two years. We are deeply saddened by the death of our team member and friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ricky’s family and friends.
The company will provide grief counseling to employees.
