DA: Woman released from prison too soon

EASTMAN, Ga. -- A district attoey says a woman who was supposed to serve at least two years in prison after she was convicted of killing a baby was released a year too soon by mistake.

DA Tim Vaughn of the Oconee Judicial Circuit says Amy Rogers Jones was sentenced to five years in prison for the killing of Jaci Rogers and was ordered to report to custody on Jan. 4, 2010.

Vaughn says the Dodge County sheriff's office mistakenly filed paperwork saying Jones had been in custody since Jan. 4, 2009.

The DA says Jones was released on Dec. 31, a year too soon. He says he plans to file a motion to send Jones back to prison.

Authorities say Jones was babysitting the infant.
