Couple Yaneth DeLaCruz, Raul Solis Charged in Conyers 3-Year-Old's Death

CONYERS, Ga. - Conyers Police say they have arrested two people in connection with the death of a 3-year-old over the weekend.

Conyers police say the 3-year-old's mother, Yaneth DeLaCruz Alvarez and her boyfriend, Raul Solis have been charged in the death Edna Figueroa.

Police say they began investigating a possible child abuse case that was reported by the emergency room staff at Rockdale Medical Center on March 5. Alvarez and Solis brought the 3-year-old to the emergency room.

Figueroa was was unconscious, unresponsive, and having difficulty breathing. The victim was suffering from an extensive brain hemorrhage, and no clear explanation for the injury was provided by Solis or Alvarez, say police.

The next day police leaed Figueroa died from the injuries. They say her injuries were sustained from being shaken and impacts to the head.

Police say Solis was charged with Murder and Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree. Solis made admissions to shaking the victim while she was misbehaving. Alvarez was charged with Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree for failing to supervise her children, and her failure to supervise contributed to the death of the 3-year-old.
