Couple Antwan Scruggs and Laurnecia Fulton Arrested for Drug Drive-Thru
A Winder couple is under arrest after police said they operated a dope take-out window from their apartment. Investigators said it's the way they allegedly distributed drugs.
Winder police said the couple's alleged drug delivery was a very simple, but effective system - involving a wireless door bell, a five gallon bucket and drugs.
The wireless door bell, Winder police said, let an alleged drug dealer know a customer was waiting.
Police said the 30-year-old Antwan Scruggs is accused of rigging up a drug distribution system from his second story, second street apartment.
"We've never seen anything like it," said Winder Police Capt. Dennis Dorsey.
Police said the scheme was pretty simple. A customer would walk through a path, up to a tree and ring a doorbell attached to the tree. The chime would go off inside that second story window, and then the alleged drug transactions would take place.
"He would lower a bucket attached with some twine down to the ground. You put your money in the bucket. He would pull it back up - take the money, put the drugs in, and lower it back down," said Doresy. "Just like a drive through."
Authorities said an increase in visitors at the apartment complex got the attention of police. An executed search warrant tued up marijuana and a bag of prescription pills, and put Scruggs and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Lauecia Fulton, behind bars. Investigators said both are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Neighbors said they were never aware of an alleged dope on a rope scheme.
"I would say it's rather crude; it's not very sophisticated, but for what he was doing, it served its purpose," said Dorsey.
The landlord at the complex said the couple lived in the apartment for less than a month; the couple were officially evicted Friday.
