Cops to dig up driveway, hope to find Jimmy Hoffa (yeah, again)
It sounds like a script for a mob movie: A dying man tips off the cops about a body buried beneath a suburban Detroit driveway more than 35 years ago. But this real-life tipster's phone call suggested that the buried man was Jimmy Hoffa, the Teamster boss who vanished without a trace in 1975 (and whose name has become synonymous with any long-missing object).
Police in Roseville, Mich., used radar to scan the area the man referenced and say there is "an anomaly" underground. On Friday, they'll dig beneath the surface to see what — or who — it could be. "It could be anybody down there," police Chief James Berlin says. "[It] could be nobody. It could be a dog." [Source]
