Conan O'Brien's 'slut' joke about Madeleine Albright backfires after she responds in kind

TALK show host and comedian Conan O’Brien has leaed the hard way that you don’t call one of the most powerful women in the world “slutty”.

Cracking an off-colour joke to his 12.5 million Twitter followers, O’Brien tweeted that he’d already picked out his Halloween costume — he’d be going as “slutty Madeleine Albright.”

Albright, 77, is a respected American politician and diplomat who was the first female US Secretary of State. She’s also active on Twitter, which O’Brien may not have realised when he made the joke.

As O’Brien’s tongue-in-cheek quip caught on, it soon caught the eye of Albright herself, who responded in kind:

Need to apply some cold water to that SICK BURN, Conan?

It didn’t end there, with Albright responding to a follow-up tweet to the funnyman:

Moral of the story: If you try to slut-shame Madeleine Albright SHE WILL COME FOR YOU.
