Atlanta police are looking for clues in a shooting that left a 19-year-old dead Saturday.

Police said Matthew Hardeman was shot several times on Owen Street in southeast Atlanta about 6:30 p.m. Family members said he was trying to settle a dispute between his sister and others when shots rang out.

”They shot him like he was a dog in the street, Hardeman’s mother, Gloria, told Georgia Newsday.

She said he was a college student majoring in criminal justice, and he hoped to join Georgia State University’s football team next year.

"He wasn't just but 19, and he hadn't begun to start his life, and it’s hurting me dearly," she said.

Police said they haven’t taken anyone into custody yet.

”I just pray that they get caught, Gloria Hardeman said.
