Investigators are sorting through clues after a woman was found shot to death inside of her Cobb County home.

Officers roped off the home oveight at the intersection of Mable Street and Peak Street in Mableton.

Cobb County police investigators were dispatched oveight to 988 Mable Street, where they found Janice Oates, 45, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Her live-in boyfriend, 46-year-old Thomas Schwartz, has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting case. Investigators are not releasing a motive for the shooting at this time.

Channel 2's Amanda Cook is in Mapleton speaking with neighbors about the incident. Some of them assumed the gunshot they heard was a firework left over from the Fourth of July, but then a man went running and yelling into a nearby Dairy Queen restaurant.

"Someone shot Janice. She's dead on the floor, shot to death," Lorinda Church said she heard the man, who she identified as Oates' boyfriend, yelling inside of the restaurant.

Church worked at the nearby Dairy Queen with the victim for 3 1/2 years, she told Cook. Church said the victim and her boyfriend had a tumultuous relationship.

Church's mother, who frequented the Dairy Queen, described the victim as a nice woman.

"I'd go into the Dairy Queen and she was the only one I'd let make my milkshakes for me," Lora Attaway said.

"It's surprising someone would go the extra mile to commit murder against her," added Church.

The case is still under investigation. Meanwhile, Schwartz is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
