Clayton County officer Darryl Wallace killed in wreck
The Clayton County Police Department is mouing the loss of one of its officers.
Officer Darryl Wallace was killed following a car crash on Tara Boulevard near Old Poston Road around 8:20 p.m. According to the Chief of Police, the officer was responding to a prowler call when he swerved to miss another car. The officer lost control of his squad car and crashed, hitting some trees. The Chief says the officer did have his emergency lights on. The Georgia State Patrol has taken over the investigation.
The officer's name has not been released. The Chief says he'd only been on the force for about a year. His mother told Commission Chair Jeffrey Tuer that the fallen officer loved his job, and always wanted to work in law enforcement.
The department is asking the public to pray for fellow officers and the officer's family.
