Cherokee County police arrested a Canton man on charges that he repeatedly molested a 10-year-old South Georgia girl. The Cherokee Sheriff picked up 29-year-old Joshua Todd Daniels on Wednesday.

According to Corporal Dave Underwood with the Moultrie Police Department, Daniels was brought to the Colquitt County Jail on charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, rape and aggravated assault.

Police say the victim knew Daniels, who is the boyfriend of the victim's mother.

According to Moultrie police, warrants for Daniels' arrest were swo out after DFCS workers interviewed the victim and found her story to be creditable. The molestations allegedly occurred over "an extended period" at several locations throughout the city of Moultrie.

Police say investigators were told that Daniels would come to Moultrie every other week to spend the weekend before heading back to Canton.

The case remains under investigation.

Daniels is being held in the Colquitt County Jail.
