Bobby Rush: Congressman's hoodie gets him tossed from House floor

Illinois Rep. Bobby Rush, a Democratic Congressman, was ordered to leave the House chamber on Wednesday because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt in honor of Trayvon Martin.

Rush began a speech wearing a suit jacket, removing it to reveal a hoodie undeeath. "Racial profiling has to stop," Rush said. "Just because someone wears a hoodie, [it] does not make them a hoodlum."

It's against House rules to wear headgear in the chamber.

Illinois Democrat Bobby Rush is the latest high-profile figure to don a hooded sweatshirt, which has became a political symbol of the protests against the teen's shooting. A founder of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in the 1960s, Rush is no stranger to public protests.
