Augusta Man Jammie Maurice West Pleads Guilty To Lighting Daughter On Fire

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- An Augusta man Jammie Maurice West has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to lighting his daughter on fire.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that 39-year-old Jammie Maurice West pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of aggravated assault.

Richmond County District Attoey Ashley Wright said that because of a prior record, West was sentenced under the recidivist statue, meaning he won't be eligible for parole and the parole on his old charges is revoked.

Authorities said West was arguing with his daughter's mother May 9 when his daughter and her boyfriend stepped in. West poured flammable liquid on his daughter and lit it with a lighter.

The girl's mother was able to put the fire out, but 20-year-old Bianca West suffered second and third degree bus to her face, arms and chest.
