Atlanta to Give Away Fans to Elderly
tlanta's senior citizens will be getting a cool break thanks to the city, Scana Energy and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.
Tuseday at City Hall, SCANA Energy will donate over 500 fans to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and the city for distribution to low-income, elderly residents to help them cope with the seemingly endless heat.
Monday, the city also opened three cooling centers for residents to help them cope with the hot weather.
The extreme heat is being blamed for the death of at least three Georgians.
