Atlanta Police Break-Up Suspected Merchandise Theft Ring

Atlanta police have broken up a suspected a theft ring, discovering a U-haul truck filled with stolen merchandise.

Police say they received a tip from another agency Tuesday night and began a stakeout at an autoshop business.

A U-haul truck pulled in Wednesday moing at the business, along with a Dodge truck, and once police moved in they drove away. Once they realized they were being followed by police, they pulled in to a nearby Chevron station in southwest Atlanta. The four men were then taken into custody.

Upon inspecting the truck, police discovered boxes of suspected stolen merchandise, some traced to Marshal's Department Store.

Four people have been arrested. Three of the four have been charged with theft by taking.

Police say the four suspects could be part of a larger theft ring.

The case is under investigation.
