ATLANTA -- The man accused of fatally stabbing a 14-year-old boy at the Five Points MARTA station shortly into New Year’s Day was indicted by a grand jury Friday.

Tommy Collins, 36, was indicted on charges of murder and three counts of aggravated assault in the stabbing death of 14-year-old Reuban Hand.

MARTA police said a fight just outside the fare gates on the Peachtree Street side of the station led to the teenager’s killing.

Deunya Taylor, Reuban Hand’s mother, said a man angry about a missing cellphone suddenly approached her son and stabbed him in the neck.

Police did not give a motive for the slaying, only saying that the incident remains under investigation.

Collins was taken into custody shortly after the incident.

The case will now be assigned to a Superior Court judge and scheduled for trial.

"Everybody loved him. You know, he touched everybody," Taylor said. "I really just still don’t believe that my baby’s gone."
