Atlanta man Jerrick Jackson sentenced in murder of pastor's brother
Demetrius Morgan is on trial for the murder of Jerrick Jackson on May 7, 2013.

A man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Thursday in the murder of a metro Atlanta pastor’s brother.

A jury found Demetrius Morgan not guilty of murder but convicted him on eight other charges Wednesday.

Demetrius Morgan admitted he drove the getaway car after the murder of Jerrick Jackson, but said he did not shoot the victim.

Jackson was the brother of Decatur Bishop Wiley Jackson of Gospel Tabeacle Cathedral.

In court, Morgan admitted to being the getaway driver on the night Jerrick Jackson was shot and killed. He also confessed to using a stolen ATM card.

Jerrick Jackson was killed when four men rushed into his home on May 7, 2013. The men pointed guns at Jackson and his fiancée. The robbers stole her purse and a wallet before the victim fought back and was shot four times.

Morgan’s defense attoey didn't offer much of rebuttal to the state's evidence. But April Northcross wanted the jury to know her client didn't know that there was going to be a robbery that night.
