Family and friends held a vigil Sunday night at the exact spot where a drunk driver hit and killed a Northwest Atlanta man Sunday moing. Atlanta police say 41-year-old Cecily Bryant ran nearly head on into the vehicle 38-year-old Jasper Collier was driving.

Collier’s loved ones placed candles a few inches from debris left over from the crash. At the vigil, his children were inconsolable and unable to speak.

Collier’s fiancée said he was about to start a new chapter.

”We were planning a wedding, said fiancée Adrienne Hannor. ”I know he’s in a better place, but I want him here with me.

Instead of a wedding, Hannor said, she will help plan a funeral.

”I never thought that when I talked to him earlier this moing that was going to be the last time, she said through tears.

According to Atlanta police, around 5 a.m. Sunday Collier was driving south on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard in a 2003 Jaguar. In the opposite direction, police say, Bryant was driving under the influence. When Bryant tried to tu left on Neal Street, she and Collier collided nearly head-on. Collier wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was seriously injured.  He was transported to Grady Hospital where he later died.

”We're going to forgive her, they said. ”We prayed about it and we gave it to God.

Collier’s family said funeral arrangements should be finalized this week.
